Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy covers What do … eat? (the "App"), an educational app for children operated by Hopworks UG (haftungsbeschränkt) ("we", "us"), with its registered address at Franz-Joseph-Str. 11, 80801 München, Germany.
The short version is also the whole story:
What do … eat? does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All processing happens on your device. The app makes no network connections and includes no third-party software.
What this means in practice
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing that identifies you or your child.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. The App contains no analytics SDK, no advertising, and no third-party code of any kind.
- Everything stays on the device. The animals your child looks up and the discovery gallery are stored only in the App on your device. Deleting the App deletes them.
- AI answers are generated on the device. For animals outside the built-in set, the App uses Apple's on-device model (Apple Intelligence). Questions and answers never leave the device.
Voice input
If you allow microphone access, voice search uses Apple's built-in speech recognition to turn spoken words into text. On devices that support on-device recognition, the App requires it, so audio is processed entirely on the device. We never receive, store, or have access to any audio or transcripts. Microphone access is optional — typing works just as well.
Children's privacy
The App is made for children and is designed so that there is simply no data to collect. Because the App collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children — in line with COPPA, the GDPR, and Apple's Kids Category requirements.
This website
Our website (whatdoeat.app) is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel's cookieless, aggregate analytics to count page visits. This measures the website only — it is unrelated to the App, sets no cookies, and identifies no one.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the App handles data, we will update this policy first and note the change here. The promise above — no collection, no transmission, no third-party software — is the design of the App, not just a setting.
